Moby - Adopted 7/7/07

  Moby Goes to School

Dear ADS,

Hope all is well. I was visiting your website and decided to check in and let you know Moby is doing great. He is growing up quick as he is nearly 70 lbs. He is just a gorgeous animal. He has completed 4 weeks of training at Mans Best Friend but still has plenty of puppy in him.

Our family feels very fortunate to have learned about the Atlanta Dog Squad and found Moby.

Keep in touch.

Steve

Linus - Adopted October 2006

Love at First Sight

Dear Dog Squad,

It has been a year since we adopted the most loving and sweet dog. Linus has been a total blessing to our family. After mourning the loss of our dog Molson, we knew we all needed some time to recover. We waited about a year to even think about finding another dog. I knew that I wanted a rescue dog and I began looking around. While searching, I came across your website and I knew I had found the right organization. The stories of the "Squad dogs" both inspired me and broke my heart.

Unfortunately, we live out of state. I contacted you guys and you went into action. Long story short, we came with our children in tow to the adoption event at Orvis. We got there early and watched as you guys got ready for the event. With each dog that arrived we became more and more excited. (I am not sure who was MORE excited, my husband and I or the kids.) We had a our eye on a few dogs but were keeping an open mind. When it was time we got out of the car and walked around. My husband noticed this beautiful dog just sitting calmly with his foster mom Stacy. Darby went over and talked to Stacy and Linus. I was still wandering around and checking everyone out. Darby was just staying with this dog and wouldn't leave for fear of someone else getting to him.

Then my daughter, Sydney, saw Linus. That was all it took! Sydney looked at Linus, who by the way was halfway in Stacy's lap and shaking, and fell in love. Stacy knew what was going to happen and we knew that this was going to be hard on everyone. We knew that Linus was the one for us. He was calm, beautiful ,and sweet. When we left Orvis with Linus we were all in tears. Stacy his foster mom was sad to see him go and we were sad because she was loosing her foster baby. I don't think that there was a dry eye around. We were just so happy to be bringing home such a! sweetie !

Fast forward a year and you will see one of the sweetest dogs ever. Linus is a perfect fit for our family. He LOVES to ride in the car or Jeep. He loves to be lazy, he runs like a mad man, and he gives the best puppy kisses. He is always happy to see us when we get home from school and wags his tail so hard it nearly hits him in the head. Actually, he doesn't wag just his tail...he wags his whole body! THANK you Atlanta Dog Squad for doing what you do. Without you we wouldn't have Linus and there would be so many dogs without forever homes. You all are truly special and we are grateful.

Attached you will find a few photos of Linus with the family.

Thanks again and lots of love,
Linus' New Family

P.S. Linus loves to go to the beach!

Zoey (formerly Jinx) - Adopted 10/13/07

  Zoey in her new home...

This note was left in an email to ADS the very day Jinx was adopted...

Sorry we missed you today. We came to say, "Hello" before we left but you were on the phone and seemed quite busy!!! We ended up adopting Jinx. She is such a lovely dog and we are so very excited!!!! My son wanted to change her name to Zoey. We will give that a try and make sure she likes it but it seems like a great name for her. Zoey, Zachary (my son) and Danny(my husband ) are all cuddled on the bed taking a nap. It is so sweet!!!

I can't thank you enough for all of your help. It was such a great experience today and you have alot of amazing and dedicated people working for you. I will make sure that I tell everyone about the Dog Squad and what a wonderful experience it was for our family. We would eventually like to adopt another dog so I'm sure you'll be hearing form us again very soon!!!

Please tell Cori, Jinx/Zoey's foster mom that Zoey has already fit right into our home. She slept on the way home and just loves to cuddle with us. She walked right into the house and seems to already be very comfortable here.

Have a great afternoon and thanks again!!!!!

Boo - Adopted 10/13/07

For this family, Boo was "just the ticket".

Meet Boo...

...the newest addition to our family! As many of you know we have been very interested in this little Golden Retriever mix for a few weeks now. We feel in love with her from her pictures online and just knew we needed to meet her and with God giving us a 2 very big signs we are pleased to have her in our home tonight.

Well the first sign was this loto ticket we got at a random stop last week on our way home from Jacksonville (see attached). The second sign was that two families beat us to Boo this morning but with the patience of my husband and both families falling through, Boo was ours! She is doing well and warming up very nice to both her sisters, Kitty & Princess. We look forward to you all meeting her soon!

Here are a few pictures, what a cutie she is, curly whiskers and all. :)

Take care and enjoy.

Noah - Adopted 9/29/07

  How about them apples?!

Dear ADS:

I just wanted to let you know that I (and my daughter) couldn't be happier with Noah. He is truly the perfect dog (o.k., I may be a bit biased). He bonded with us immediately and is my constant shadow. He's incredibly gentle, great on the leash, terrific with all of the neighborhood people, kids and dogs that he's met, and did great when I let him have the run of the house when I left for a few hours yesterday -- no chewing, accidents, etc.

I inadvertently left a bowl of apples on the table while I was gone and he totally ignored them. He spent the past two nights in my bed, stretched out between my daughter and I. He seems completely at home and content. I have no idea how someone was able to part with him. I just wanted to thank you again and tell you how happy I am with the entire ADS experience. I am also going to email Melissa, Noah's foster mom, so that she will know how he's doing. Thanks again!

-- Sara
