What Are Referral Dogs?
Referral dogs are dogs from local area animal shelters or Atlanta Dog Squad Approved Partners.
Check here if you don’t see the dog for you in our
Available Dogs
section.
Our goal first and foremost is to give retrievers another chance – so please take a look at the referral dogs ready for a forever home.

Adoption Tips:
When adopting any dog, be informed and ask questions about the dog's health status. Ask for verification of vaccination and heartworm preventative. Reputable rescue organizations will provide this information. Be aware of temperament, ask questions to ensure the dog will fit into your family’s lifestyle and make sure you get a written adoption agreement.

Meet Stella
Stella is a fun-loving 3 year old female shepherd mix who is about 50 pounds.
She prefers to be inside rather than outside most of the time, but does enjoy going for walks, playing in the yard, and if you have a trampoline, she’ll play on that too!
Stella has been spayed, chipped, and is up to date on her shots. Stella is a sweetie who loves to be with her people and she would do best in a home with children.

Meet the Pups
Some adorable lab-mix puppies are in need of homes ASAP. Here is the info from the good samaritan that rescued them from the abandoned tomb where their mother was caring for them:
The neighbors kept seeing the mother dog going back to the abandoned family cemetery behind our houses and went to investigate. When I went to see them, we found that there were 8 puppies living inside one of the tombs. They were healthy and looked well cared for. When the mother started to move them a few days later, I took them all and they are now living in a screened breezeway beside my carport. The mother dog is now very affectionate with me, and is living in my house. I'll probably try to keep her if she continues getting on well with my dogs, but might let her go if I find someone who wants an adult dog.

The vet says that they are a lab/??? mix. One pup looks to be part Australian shepherd. According to the vet's estimate, the pups we born around mid February - making them 10 weeks old at the time of this posting. The mother is about 2.5 - 3 years and weighs 50 lbs. The pups are doing well with paper training, and despite a few accidents, the mother seems to have been house-trained at some point.
The pups are all extremely sweet and playful. They can be somewhat shy with new people, but they've only been out of the tomb and around people for 3 weeks, so I think they're adapting very well. I'm trying to let them have as much time together and with their mother as possible. I'd like to find homes where they will live indoors and have a fenced yard. I took the pups to Paws Atlanta and they had their first round of shots, and they have had both dewormings.
Please contact Kip directly by email or phone if you are interested in adopting one of the pups:

Meet Karly
Karly is a loving and sweet black Lab mix that was found abandoned on a country road near Athens. Karly is about 1 yr old, has been spayed, microchipped and has all vaccinations.
She is a clever dog. She now sits, downs, waits for food until told OK, and stays. You will notice in some of the pictures she is staying without anyone holding leash. She just wants attention and love. She seems to be fine with other dogs and hasn't shown interest in the foster home's cats. Karly loves to cuddle and is looking forward to having a forever home.
Karly is being fostered by Greg and Sally Mathis. If you are interested in making Karly a part of your family, please contact the Mathis' at either of the following:

Meet Bo
Bo is looking for love at the end of the rainbow! Bo is a handsome chocolate Lab mixed fellow with a short brown coat and gorgeous golden eyes. He was rescued as a newborn pup with his mother and sister from the Asheville Animal Shelter. He was born in March 2001 and has been waiting to be adopted ever since! Bo would make an excellent companion pet for another dog or a wonderful addition to any family.
His ideal home would be one where he had just a Mom or 2 and no Dad as he seems to avoid and be generally uninterested in men. We think this is due in large part to the fact that Bo's caregivers and volunteers at Friends Forever are primarily women and this is what he is most comfortable with.
Bo is gentle and well behaved. He does think that cats fall into the same category as squirrels and rabbits and should be "chased and caught" so he would be best suited in a home without them. Bo is neutered, current on his vaccinations, de-wormed and on heartworm prevention.
He is crate trained and rides well in the car. He also loves playing with his toys and other doggie friends. Bo would be thrilled to finally have a home of his own. He has been waiting his whole life for his big day!
