Meet Lucky
Lucky was brought to the vet clinic where I work to be euthanized, but since she was perfectly healthy and sweet, the vet refused to do so. The clinic took her in and she has been living at the clinic since Thanksgiving 2007. A few weeks ago she went to a foster home and has done great with her foster family, including other dogs, cats, and kids.
However, she has learned to jump the low gate connecting their privacy fence, so she needs to find a home with a high fence all around.
Lucky is spayed, up-to-date on shots, heartworm negative, and current on heartworm preventative and flea/tick preventative.
Lucky is 5 years old, good with other dogs, cats, and kids. She would make a wonderful addition to any home!

Meet Darris
Darris is a gorgeous black lab mix. This is one happy, happy boy. He loves people, has done fine with kids. He is currently in a foster home with three dogs and two cats. He is pretty laid-back and is good with other dogs, likes cats. He is neutered, UTD and HW negative. He is about 3 years old and 40 lbs.
Darris is house-broken and crate-trained. He actually goes right into his crate when you tell him too, and goes into it every night for bedtime without being asked! Darris has learned to sit before meals, and is walking VERY nicely on a gentle leader with a pack of foster sibs. He ADORES his foster sister, a herding breed, and seems to prefer female dogs to males.
His pictures do him no justice, as he is just adorable in person. We have taken him to the dog park, where he did great. He likes the water, and loves to go jogging with his foster mom. He leans against you for attention and loves to be brushed. He is of medium energy and can jump high when he wants, but has never attempted to escape from fenced in yard or car. Darris is in INDOOR dog and will not be adopted to a home where he is kept outdoors unattended.

Meet Jacob
Jacob is a 5 year old, neutered, black and tan Border Collie. He's up to date on his shots and he weighs about 60lbs. His owner brought him into a Veterinary clinic saying she was "done with him" and that he no longer fit her life style so she wanted him to be euthanized. Thank goodness the vet refused.
Jacob is a very sweet boy. He's great with dogs and loves everyone. He seems very even-tempered although we haven't seen him around kids and cats yet. Like most BCs, he just wants to be with you. He chases plays and will even bring them back to you. He's not hyper like most Border Collies; actually he is rather calm.

Meet Freddy
FREDDY FIRECRACKER got his name because sadly enough on July 4th, 2005 he and his littermates were tossed out onto I-95 outside of Greensboro. Thankfully, they survived and were rescued by Friends Forever. Despite Freddy's terrible start in life, he is affectionate, eager to please and enthusiastic.
Freddy is athletic and obedient yet shy at first. He has a wonderfully soft black coat with a little bit of white on his chin that makes it seem like he has been drinking milk. He has a dear "come pet me" expression and irresistible eyes. Freddy would make a wonderful companion pet. He is ideally suited in a home without men as he seems to be afraid of them. We are not certain why he avoids men and seems afraid of them but he is. He gets along well with other dogs, and thinks cats are funny looking dogs! (he likes cats too). He is friendly and gentle with children as well. Freddy would prefer a fenced in yard to romp in although he does walk well on the leash. Freddy was born in April 2005.
He is neutered, current on his vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. He is crate trained too.

Meet Bo
Bo is looking for love at the end of the rainbow! Bo is a handsome chocolate Lab mixed fellow with a short brown coat and gorgeous golden eyes. He was rescued as a newborn pup with his mother and sister from the Asheville Animal Shelter. He was born in March 2001 and has been waiting to be adopted ever since! Bo would make an excellent companion pet for another dog or a wonderful addition to any family.
His ideal home would be one where he had just a Mom or 2 and no Dad as he seems to avoid and be generally uninterested in men. We think this is due in large part to the fact that Bo's caregivers and volunteers at Friends Forever are primarily women and this is what he is most comfortable with.
Bo is gentle and well behaved. He does think that cats fall into the same category as squirrels and rabbits and should be "chased and caught" so he would be best suited in a home without them. Bo is neutered, current on his vaccinations, de-wormed and on heartworm prevention. He is crate trained and rides well in the car. He also loves playing with his toys and other doggie friends. Bo would be thrilled to finally have a home of his own. He has been waiting his whole life for his big day!
