For an older girl, Amber has tons of spunk and charm. She has that special "something" that endears her to everyone she meets. She's very enjoyable to be around and is really fond of being loved on. Her past doesn't seem to have been very cheery though. Unfortunately, some people only see dogs as money making machines. That's what Amber's former owners thought of her and her daughters. All three girls were apparently bred and bred and bred.... and then dumped at the shelter when they were no longer profitable or became too much of a burden. How sad.
Amber is 8 years old and appears to have been used as a puppy making machine her whole life. She has a lot of energy and life left in her. And she has a lot of love to give you. Amber really needs the rest of her life to be filled full of good things... good food, good friends, good times and lots of affection. She would just love to be the center of your world. Amber is the mother of Carly and Sadie.
UPDATE FROM AMBER'S FOSTER MOM:
Amber is a mellow, sweet, gentle soul who's affectionate with people and other dogs. She is housebroken and totally trustworthy when left alone at home for long periods of time. She gets along great with both male and female dogs, including her extra-large alpha male Lab foster brother. Amber just ignores him when he's grumpy and goes about her business. She may be an older gal but she is definitely full of life. With the help of a glucosamine tablet with her meals to help with a little arthritis, Amber has become a very spry and young 8-year-old lady.
She loves to play fetch and she LOVES to go for walks. She does pull on a normal collar/leash combo but is doing great using a correction collar. As an added plus, she will come when called inside or out. You can tell she hasn’t had much attention in her life. She's not trained to commands like “sit” or “stay” but that is workable since she is calm and eager to please. She basically just wants to be loved. If you are looking for a Lab that is calm, easy and just wants to be around you, Amber is your gal!
