We're really unsure about what terrible things might have happened to this girl in her past; but what we do know is that Ella is one sweet and very special girl. She came to us via a call for help from PetCo. It seems that Ella had been abandoned there. The PetCo folks kindly took her in, kept her safe and gave her love until we were able to offer assistance. She's a little too thin, has a distinct wobble when she walks and one of her ears appears to have been shortened somewhat. Plus, her tail is only about 6 inches long! The wobble, we feared, would be hip related so we crossed our fingers and said a little prayer when we asked out vet to give her a thorough physical. To our surprise, her hips are in fine shape, but both ankles appear to have been surgically fused at some point in her life - so they don't move.

Our vet could only offer the possible explanation that the fusing could have been done as a salvage procedure (sometimes done if the joints are so badly damaged there isn't any other option). Or possibly, her previous owner could not afford other options to resolve her problem or injury. We estimate that she is 8 years and that she has so much love to give that you'll be able to overlook her visible physical issues and see the extraordinary beauty that lies within.
