Every once in a while, a dog's story really touches your heart. From a business standpoint, we know it's not a good investment to take a Lab that's over 14 years old. Few people will step up to adopt a dog that age. But, when you stop to think what rescue really means, you just can't help wanting to save the dog.
That's the case with the latest addition to the Squad. His name is Foster (aka Owen at the shelter) and he's 14 years old. Foster's owner died, and because the owner had no living relatives and had not prepared anyone to take care of Foster, he ended up in a local shelter. He couldn't understand why he was at the shelter and kept looking for his owner every time someone closed a car door. When we heard his story we rushed to help him.
From the vet records and his personality, it appears that Foster was well loved and taken care of by his owner. He's in good health for his age and still has some good days ahead of him. He's also house-trained and a very mellow fellow -- that's a dream dog in our book.
