We probably should have named her Lucky Break. This story may bring tears to your eyes - so don't continue if you are faint of heart or easily upset by the cruel realities of what happens daily at shelters throughout Georgia.
Our girl Jinx wound up in a high-kill shelter in North Georgia where, due to severe over-crowding, she quickly wound up on death row. As a matter of fact, a long line of dogs had been put down that week and she was next in line. This sounds like a terrible thing to say, but it was lucky for Jinx that so many had gone before her. When it was her turn to be euthanized, the shelter staff realized there was no more room in the freezer for any more bodies. So Jinx was granted a reprieve until the next day, when freezer space would be freed up again to continue "making more room" at the shelter for incoming dogs.
Wow. When we heard about her dilemma, we had to open up a spot for her in the Squad. And boy are we glad we did! Jinx is only about 18 months old and ever so grateful to have this new shot at a happy life. When you bend down to meet her, she'll gently give you a thankful hug - wrapping her head and front legs around your shoulders and hugging you just like a human would. It's as if she knows exactly how lucky she is and wants to thank you personally for the kindness you show her and for new chance for a happy life. Jinx will need unconditional love, unlimited hugs, a little training and a some confidence building in her new home... but we think she's a super girl already.
