SquadDog Mack

Mack is a gorgeous 2 year old yellow Lab. His owner left him with a pet sitter and never came back to get him! After weeks of not being able to contact his owner, the pet sitter felt she had no option but to turn Mack over to animal control. He is a sweet boy with a beautiful creamy coat and a ton of potential.

Adoption Story:

This was probably the best adoption I've gotten to do.

When I picked up Mack from Leslie (his foster) he was so nervous about leaving her... he warmed up a little bit in the car... and then was really nervous when we got to Karen's house. I was afraid that Karen would think he was too much of a scaredy cat and wouldn't be interested. But something told me she'd fall for him because he's so sweet... and then there was the look on her face when she met him too. He paced - worked his way around the 'circle' of the downstairs constantly... but kept checking to make sure we were there. Eventually he let us pet him. I was pretty sure though that she was sold on him when he emptied the bathroom hamper and rolled on each piece he pulled out... There was a slightly wet towel or two that just made his day. It was so cute. I spent about 30 minutes with them - then left them alone for an hour so Karen could get to know him and take him for a walk. She called before her hour was up and said she wanted him. :) After I left them alone she tried to snuggle him but he'd have none of it so she decided to ignore him and see what happened. It was just too much for Mack to take... he came close and made friends and wouldn't leave her side.

After she called saying she wanted him, I met her at a pet store nearby because she wanted to buy him a collar, tag, leash, toys, bones and food. This, of course, meant she left him alone in the house. He was alone about 20 minutes. When we got back to her house we went into serious panic mode. We searched high and low.. NO MACK! He wasn't in any closets or either bathroom or any of the spare rooms! We looked under tables and behind the LR furniture. AAHH!! By this time it was dark - after 9:30.. all I could think was that he had somehow slipped out the door unnoticed when she left for the pet store. All the windows and doors were closed and locked so were were mystified... until I saw a tiny tip of a tail coming out from under Karen's bed. Do you know how big Mack is? He was so funny hiding under that bed. He came out after we discovered him and checked out his new toys. I went over the adoption paperwork with Karen and then I attached his new name tag to his new collar and put it on him. OMG! It was like be became a whole different dog! He became playful.. wanted to wrestle.. got super happy. It was so cute. He was like a great big, silly puppy. I told Karen he'd been listening to all the adoption talk and knew he was adopted... but I really think having a collar and tag put on him made the difference.

I had a really hard time getting an adoption picture because he was just ridiculously silly. He wouldn't be still. He was flipping his toys around and teasing us with them... I thought he was just going to bust with happiness (and Karen too).
