This boy lives up to the top-gun name Maverick, because he is definitely top-notch. We've never seen such a young Lab with such a calm demeanor. Don't get us wrong -- he can fetch sticks and catch a ball in mid-air like a typical Lab, but he also knows how to sit and shake on command. He jumped right into the car with our volunteer, and rode perfectly in the front seat like a co-pilot back to Atlanta.

It's hard to believe that he was found running with a couple of other dogs in a small rural town. Several of the townspeople were looking out for him because he came right up to their doors to say hello -- but, eventually, his luck ran out and Maverick found himself sitting on death row in the shelter. It's surprising that no one came to claim him. Luckily, a good Samaritan (who had actually met Maverick in the small town) saved Maverick in the nick of time and called ADS.

We couldn't be happier to have this boy as a Squad Dog. His sweet nature and amiable disposition, not to mention his striking gold eyes and shiny black coat, make Maverick one of those special dogs that will be an awesome addition to some lucky family.
