Tango must have a Guardian Angel... a few of them actually. This good looking 3 year old had the deck stacked against him in every way. First of all he was picked up as a stray by Animal Control and no one came looking for him. Summer is a terrible time to wind up in a shelter in Georgia... so many dogs never make it back out. On top of that, he is a BBD (a big black dog) and BBDs seldom get adopted from shelters. Making things much worse for his situation, he came down with a respiratory infection at the shelter and had to be moved to the infirmary (where potetnial adopters are not allowed).
The final blow came when they discovered he was Heartworm positive. Large, black and sick... his adoption chances were zero. His luck appeared to have totally run out. Thank goodness the shelter staff thought he was so awesome they refused to give up on him. After all, even when he was feeling bad, he went from kennel to kennel to check on all of the other dogs in the infirmary... excitedly wagging his tail and greeting them as if to say "Don't worry, we'll be okay" - even to the ones that barked aggressively at him. Sweet, a tad shy at first and a little clumsy on his long legs... this boy is just as handsome as can be. We met him and agreed so now he's safe, getting better and preparing for a wonderful home of his very own.
UPDATE: Tango is such a wonderful boy... he earns new admirers everywhere he goes. He's a real love-bug and an all-around good boy. He has completed his Heartworm treatment and has been given two thumbs up from our vet to proceed with his new healthy, happy life. Tango is a very special dog that deserves a very special family.
