Ace is a 2.5 year old, big ol' sweet lug of a Lab that readily hands out kisses to anyone who will pet him. We heard about him through rescue volunteers seeking help for a very nice dog with a terrible leg wound. Citing financial limitations, his owners didn't follow their vet's recommendation for aggressive treatment, so Ace did not receive appropriate wound care for many months after cutting his leg on a fence.
The wound proceeded to get dramatically worse and was posing a serious danger to his health. He needed help desperately. When ADS learned about Ace, we brought him into the Squad and immediately began proper care for his injury. He's doing quite well now but will need a little time to recover fully.
Throughout his ordeal and during wound treatments, Ace has been nothing but a good boy. He doesn't utter an ill sound or snap when getting his wound cleaned. He just holds his breath and waits patiently for the vet to treat him. If the pain is too unbearable, he will gently pull his paw away. He's an incredibly nice boy. At 80 pounds, Ace is a little skinny and can easily stand 10 more pounds on his solid frame. He's a super happy guy at heart. We promised to find him a very special home where he will get all of the love and attention he deserves.
