Foxy's a very special kind of Retreiver. She's what is known as a PEL - a Pointy Eared Lab. This type of Lab is quite rare. We believe she's one of a kind - unique... and in more ways than one.
Honestly, Foxy is most probably a mix of Lab and Basenji... a Labenji, if you will. When we learned of her extremely agreeable temperament, we knew she'd make an awesome Squad Dog. She has personality galore and she's just a dream to be around. So we looked beyond the fact that her ears are very, well, non-Retriever-like. And we accept the fact that the ears do come with the dog. But different can be good. As a matter of fact, she's proof that different is wonderful. We've found that her ears are actually quite handy. They function as Mood Ears. If her ears are held low, she's all lovey-dovey. If her ears are pulled back, she's intrigued. If her ears are flying high, she's probably tuning in an AM radio station broadcasting from another state.
Foxy is about 2 years old and great with other dogs - males, females, big and small. As a matter of fact, her relaxed confidence with other dogs seems to make them gravitate to her; they want to be near her. She seems to have the ability to put other dogs at ease. And with people, this girl is especially engaging. She interacts freely and you just have to experience her happy-to-be-with-you belly flop. It's pretty funny - and quite endearing. She can be rather exuberant when greeting you and her broad smile is gorgeous. What a grin... it's a mile wide!
So, if you're the kind of person that appreciates the unusual and you're yearning for a wonderfully loving and funny and devoted best friend, then please come meet our Miss Foxy. And be prepared; we're pretty sure she'll hear you coming from a mile away. ;)
