SquadDog LJay

LJay is one very lucky pup - although he probably doesn't look at it that way. Some nice folks were heading home from vacation when they had to swerve to avoid hitting something in the middle of the highway. It was a puppy! He'd been run over! And to make matters worse, no one was stopping to help him - not even the car that hit him! Our Good Samaritans immediately pulled over. Even though he was confused and in a lot of pain, the little guy allowed his new friends to load him into their car and rush him to the nearest vet. The vet did a quick, temporarily patch-up job and then LJay joined his rescuers on the trip back to metro Atlanta where he could get a more thorough evaluation and treatment.

Once thoroughly examined, we found that LJay has a fractured jaw and pelvis. Surgery would not be necessary because of his young age (only 4 months old), however he would need to stay relatively confined and inactive until everything healed properly. After a brief stay at the doggy hospital, we moved the little guy into a wonderful foster home to expedite his recovery.

LJay is a little bit on the timid, quiet side and is often content just watching everything around him. He's feeling much better physically now and has proven himself to be a very calm boy. He likes other dogs and even cuddles up regularly with one of his foster sisters. He's turned out to be quite the little love bug. He loves to snuggle and gives an "I'm so grateful" look with his big, sad eyes. He especially loves it if you'll let him sleep with you! He snuggles right in and doesn't make a peep all night! But he's also happy to sleep in his crate and doesn't make a sound til morning. He seems exceptionally bright and learns quickly. He's doing really, really well with his housetraining. He gives sweet kisses and will roll over and wag his tail vigorously when you talk to him. He is about as sweet and gentle as they come. Just a little more rest and recovery, and this precious boy will be good to go in no time!
