SquadDog Moose

Moose, like his name implies, is a big ol' boy. In a foreclosure trend that has become all too common, his previous family moved and abandoned him in their former home. All alone, with no one to take care of or feed him, Moose's fate seemed sealed. Luckily though, someone discovered his predicament before things got terribly bad. So this nice family dog was rescued by animal control and given another chance. And when we heard his story, we immediately made him a Squad Dog.

Moose likes others dogs and loves people. He’s house-trained but needs some work to overcome his “extreme enthusiasm” for food… He tends to be a bit too grabby with treats. But that’s something that will get better with some training and as he learns he’ll be getting regular meals from now on. He has a good amount of energy for a 5 year old; he's playful but not obnoxious about it. He’s large, yet not so big that he’s too much to handle. Moose is a good boy who’s patiently waiting for a family that will take him wherever and whenever they move - no matter what.

Update from Moose's Foster Mom:

Moose is smooth in his moves; he’ll lean against your leg, give a little huff and slide on down to lay at your feet and beam up in adoration if you keep the head rubbin’ goin’ on. He gets along with all dogs, and didn’t even try to eat a Yorkie, even when it squeaked at him. He’s housetrained and crate trained. And when he’s cruising the yard doing his perimeter patrol duties, if you call to him (using the appropriate gravelly-blue’s voice), “Come-on Moose-baby, bring your big old self on in!” he’ll raise up his head, get a goofy expression on his face as though no one but you has ever said this to him (alright they probably haven’t!), he’s in love and can hear the violins playing in the background as he runs across the flower filled field to embrace you. Actually he skids around the door and slides right up to his food bowl, but you can tell the flower-filled field is in his big heart.

Moose is good on a leash, loves to go hiking in the woods, and he can carry your lunch & his in a doggie backpack. He’s still a bit grabby with toys, but with more practice and play that will go away. He’s been hand-fed for the last few days and has become quite the gentleman taking treats, if a bit drooly. This is a hunk-of-love dog, and he would like to come to your house and sit next to you by the fire once the weather turns… as long as he gets some of the stew. (He woofs for home made chicken stock on his kibble).
