Seymour’s happy attitude should be the model for us all. Even though he’d been picked up as a stray and wound up in a local shelter, he remained happy and upbeat. Even though his owners never came looking for him, he greeted all visitors with a goofy grin and a happy wag. Even though his skin and fur were in rough shape and his eye’s bothered him terribly, he always smiled his biggest smile. Even though he came within minutes of being euthanized at the shelter, he still happily smiled at everyone that he met. As we walked him out of the shelter on his way to become a Squad Dog, he happily said good-bye to everyone, even people he had never met before. To our sweet Seymour, it’s all very simple - life is good.
Seymour is around 8 years old and quite a big boy at over 100 pounds. But his size is misleading – he’s just a big mellow guy. His human friends refer to him as the “big ol’ goofy moose”. He loves any and all attention; he just loves to be alive and to enjoy every day and every one. Other dogs, even irritating little pups, don’t bother him and he doesn’t seem too concerned about kitties. He’s also about as house-trained as they come! As a matter of fact, the shelter volunteers that walked him daily were always emphatic about making sure he got his regular jaunts outside, because he holds it until he gets an opportunity to take care of business outside.
If you need to learn to smile in the face of difficulty and diversity, or if you just like having someone with a happy disposition around the house, Seymour is your man.
