Squirt is a cute little squirt of Lab mix. She’s small - only around 45 lbs - and as cute as a button. She’s initially shy with new folks, but once she warms up, she loves to be petted, to have her belly rubbed and to lie next to you - or on top of you, if you’ll let her.
Squirt is around 2 ½ years old and is looking for an active, affectionate home without cats. She tends to think of them as playthings - and the cats involved generally aren’t thrilled about it.
She loves to play but she also enjoys “crashing” with you too. She enjoys car rides, jogging and playing fetch. She’s a family dog and likes to be part of her pack - including dogs and humans. She’s house and crate trained. And she’s also great on a leash, often choosing to walk just a step or two behind you, never pulling. She knows several commands including: Sit, Stand, Dance, Off and Leave it.
Squirt is a really good girl all around. Please find an opportunity to meet her. Squirt recently underwent eye surgery.
Update from Squirt's foster mom:
Squirt loves walks and is great on leash, and she likes to play fetch too. She’s a little wary of new people in the house – she’ll go into her crate until she warms up. But once she feels comfy with you, she’s your best friend.
Squirt had surgery on her right eye because her tear duct didn’t produce any tears. A salivary gland was reattached to become her new tear duct. Because of this, her eye waters more than usual (when she’s nervous, excited, sees food, etc.). This doesn’t bother her – actually she is very happy because her eye doesn’t hurt any more. She only requires occasional wiping with a warm washcloth to prevent build-up. Her left (non-surgery) eye requires eye drops; it did not require surgery because it responds well to the drops.
Squirt is a great little dog - shy, obedient and affectionate. Once she’s comfortable with you, her shyness fades and she’s very friendly, playful and affectionate. She’ll do best in a house with dogs, as she likes being part of a pack and it makes her feel more confident.
