People initially look at Sunny Boy and see a crippled dog with a very bad skin. If you look just a little closer you’ll see a wonderfully loving, friendly and affectionate boy that is ever so happy to meet everyone.
Sunny’s past is filled with neglect and misfortune. When he was a tiny 7-week-old pup, his original owner put him in a pasture to bond with their horses. Not surprisingly, a horse stepped on him, crushing his leg. To make matters worse, he never received any medical attention so the injured leg didn't properly heal. But this wonderfully optimistic boy has absolutely no idea that he is handicapped. After all, his oddly bent leg is pretty much all he has ever known. And it doesn’t slow him down one bit! He’s more active than most dogs his age – which is around 8 years old. He absolutely loves to run; and nothing makes him happier than a trip to the lake!
On top of the injured leg, Sunny developed a severe flea allergy and skin condition that his family could not afford to properly treat. When they realized Sunny’s skin was making him miserable and that he desperately needed medical help they could not provide, they decided to ask for rescue assistance. That’s when ADS came into his life. We were delighted with his personality so he became a Squad Dog immediately. We’re ensuring that he gets the proper nutrition and medical care to get his skin and fur nice and healthy again. In just one week he has already shown much improvement!
Sunny is completely housetrained and is ecstatic to be told he gets to live inside forever now. He is wonderful with kids - even toddlers. And he loves to fetch, run and swim! Plus he'll entertain you with his “sit”, “shake”, “sit pretty” and “speak” tricks. He’s a lovable lug of a Lab who’s super excited to be offered a new and happy life. We’ll be looking for an extra-special home for this extra-special boy.
