This gentle giant is known as Beardsley, but his close friends just call him Ben. What a handsome Lab! It's tough to believe that he was a stray in a small south Georgia animal shelter. How could anyone give up or lose such a gorgeous fellow? He's tough to miss.

We think Beardsley is around 5 or 6 years old because we haven't found a single white hair anywhere on his body. He's so laid back that we believe he must be past those teenage years, but then again, he might just be a mellow dude. No matter what his age, in a word he is awesome.

Someone has taken good care of this boy at some point in his life. He weighs in just shy of 100 pounds and he doesn't really have room to lose too many pounds. Plus, he knows how to sit and automatically gives you his paw for a good shake. He got his nickname "Ben" at the shelter because of his gentle temperament. Other dogs don't really seem to phase him and we've only heard him bark once. To be honest, his bark sounded more like a bellow than a true bark -- and the tone didn't really match his physical size.

Be warned. If you're thinking of adopting our boy Beardsley, you'll need to be ready to turn heads and hear a lot of "oohs" and "ahs" as you walk down the street. In his case, good things come in BIG packages.
