This sweet retriever mix is not only a beautiful girl, but has a beautiful disposition, too. That's why she's called Bella Bella -- to capture not only her physical grace and beauty, but also her sweet temperament.
Bella Bella's story is an amazing one. In fact, she is one lucky girl. A very kind good Samaritan witnessed her get bumped by a truck, go down and then get up and run into a nearby parking lot. She was disoriented long enough for the kind soul to grab her before she walked back out into traffic. After a trip to a nearby animal hospital, it was learned that Bella was micro chipped and her family was contacted.
The family decided to surrender Bella to the animal hospital because they felt they could not care for her properly. They were leaving her outside all day and she was escaping from the fenced-in backyard several times a week.
Bella Bella is around 18 months old and would make a fantastic agility dog. Although she is probably mixed with Collie (Smooth), her retriever roots are obvious as she prances around with a toy in her mouth. She is housebroken and knows some basic obedience commands, although she definitely still has some playful puppy energy.
Bella is very sweet and after getting some initial energy out with a good run, walk or playtime, she just wants to be with people - by your side, at your feet and loved on. Bella is good with children and other dogs. She quickly become a favorite at the animal hospital and her personality blooms more and more every day. Bella has clearly had some stress in her young life already, but each day she shows us that she is worthy of a second chance at finding her "forever family". If you are looking for a sweet, playful companion, please do a double take and check out Bella Bella.
Update from Bella Bella's foster family:
There’s never a time when Bella isn’t smiling and happy. She’s always in good cheer. She's definitely a tom-boy; she loves to run and wrestle and play with her doggy friends. She’s fine with dog savvy cats too. There’s not an aggressive bone in her body… she’s all about having a good time.
Bella’s fast and agile, and she’d thrive with agility training. She really loves to run and jump over things in the yard. She comes when called and she’s working hard on her extended “stay” until released. She’s great in the house – has never had an accident or chewed on anything other than her chewies - and she’s even learned to ring a string of bells to let you know she needs to go outside!
I certainly should not neglect to mention that Bella is crazy about water! She loves it! She loves to play in it... loves to swim...and she really enjoys frolicking in the stream when you're using the water hose. And if it's raining, it's just all the more fun! She'd have an awesome time at the lake... or in your pool - even if it's just a kiddie pool. She's fun to play with in any water... and you'll find yourself laughing just watching her play alone in even the smallest amount of water in a bowl or puddle.
I can definitely see why Bella continually escaped her former owner’s yard. She’s very social and prefers the company of others. Bella’s an awesome snuggler too! She loves to be loved. She’ll cuddle up next to you at night, real close, and not move til you wake her in the morning. She’ll do best in a home that is patient but firm with her training… and that also has at least one other dog that loves to play.
