Together Forever!

The minute Petey and Candy were surrendered to a local animal control shelter, the staff alerted ADS that this gorgeous pair of Labradors needed to be rescued and placed in a home as soon as possible. It was obvious that they were siblings who had lived their entire lives together in a loving home and would be lost and confused in the shelter. Unfortunately, an illness in their family resulted in Petey and Candy finding themselves in need of a new home. We acted quickly to rescue this dynamic duo the very next day and they are living happily in a foster home. Their bond is strong, so ADS will be adopting them as a pair.

According to their foster mom, she just can't find anything wrong with these two beautiful Labs' behavior. Here are her observations after having Petey and Candy in her home:

These 4.5 year old siblings are friendly as can be. Although both are overweight, they are on a diet and exercise program designed to help them lose excess weight and increase their strength and mobility. Petey is a chocolate love bug. He likes nothing better than having his ears scratched and his tummy rubbed. Candy is as sweet as her name- she dearly loves her brother and always looks out for him.

Both dogs are housetrained and crate trained, although they do not require crating. They are polite and well behaved in the house. Both love walks and rides in the car. They get along well with people, dogs, and other small animals. Not sure about cats, but both ignore birds, tarantulas and mice. I can't say enough good things about these two- they are wonderful house guests. Petey likes to play with my dog Jackson. Candy is more of a walker than a player. You better be ready to go for a walk when you pick up a leash. Both Candy and Petey become very excited at the prospect of a walk or car ride. They need a little work on leash manners, but once they settle in to a pace they walk nicely. The dogs have no behavior issues- both are laid back and happy dogs.

You would have to go a long way to find a more perfect pair of Labradors. Petey and Candy need to find their forever home, where they can spend the rest of their lives playing and being together.
