Daisy and Duke were frequent repeat visitors at Animal Control. They kept getting out of their electric fence and wandering miles from home. Their owners refused to install a permanent fence to keep them safe and when they finally got tired of paying the fines, they surrendered this wonderful pair to Animal Control.
When our volunteer first approached their separate pens at the shelter, they both were sadly sitting alone - all melancholy. But that changed once they saw each other outside. Duke raced across the shelter's yard to get to Daisy. They were so happy to see each other! Poor kids. They really don’t like to be apart. On the way back to Atlanta, our volunteers tried to get Duke to ride in the cargo area, with Daisy in the back seat - but Duke wouldn't have it and climbed over to be with his gal Daisy.
These two gorgeous 3-year-olds are strongly bonded and are seeking a home together. They both are pretty well mannered and crave human affection. Daisy is just beautiful. She usually has a cautious and inquisitive look about her. But she’ll shower you in thousands of kisses once she warms up. Duke is a pretty boy who really wants to be a lap dog - and to be as close to you as he can get. He loves for you to gently rub his muzzle and ears.
If you have room in your home and heart for two wonderful friends, please be sure to meet Duke and Daisy. Your world will be showered in love, devotion… and tons of doggy kisses.
Update:
After careful observation, we have determined that Duke and Daisy do just fine separated from each other. We are therefore offering them for adoption separately.
Update from Duke's foster dad:
Duke has done really well since moving in. He is a very friendly dog and behaves very well with children and other dogs. I would say his tail is wagging almost all of the time and he follows me everywhere around the house. At night he sleeps on the floor right next to my bed and when I come home, he is always waiting at the door.
We may have change his breed name, though, as he doesn’t retrieve balls and toys! He chews a tiny bit not much to speak of and has had only one accident since he has been with me. He will bark at people or animals that are at distance but starts wagging his tail once he gets close to them.
Overall, he has been a very easy and well-behaved dog with manageable energy.
