SquadDog Kenzie

Sometimes you have to make a tough decision and not consider the cost. Like when you learn that a sweet, 8 week-old puppy has mysteriously wound up with a broken leg and the owners can't or won't take the wee one to the doctor -- even though the pup is crying in pain. That's how we came to bring Kenzie into the ADS program. A couple of Good Samaritans made ADS aware of Kenzie's plight, and we knew we needed to act quickly to get her into our custody. Especially when it was reported that rather than take the puppy to the vet, the"owners" discussed shooting her to put her out of her pain. That's right. After learning this, we moved quickly to convince the owners there were other options and to surrender Kenzie to ADS so that we could give her the medical care she needed.

Kenzie is simply gorgeous and has the best temperament in the world for such a young Lab puppy. Even though she was in excruciating pain, she continued to give kisses to the good Samaritans who helped her on the journey to safety. It's as if she was saying "thank you" for rescuing her from a bad situation. As soon as she arrived at our vet's office, she was examined and found to have a bad fracture just above the elbow on her front leg. We quickly made arrangements for Kenzie to have surgery to mend her leg. After surgery, she'll be recouping in a foster home where she will receive the love and attention she deserves. Kenzie is a bright-eyed, happy puppy who unfortunately found herself in a bad situation. But, that's all changed now that she's a Squad Dog.

Yes, the benefits outweigh the costs in rescue. In this case, you can't really put a price on giving Kenzie a chance at a healthy life with a loving family. Kenzie is looking for that awesome family who will make sure she is safe for the remainder of her life. Her future is definitely looking up. Now, she just needs to find her forever home.

Note: If you are interested in helping ADS cover the costs for Kenzie's surgery, please go to our Make a Donation page to make a contribution.   Thank you.
