One pretty summer day, everybody's friend Roo, headed out to find new friends and follow some interesting smells. Before he knew it, he was hungry and lost, so he took refuge at a Kangaroo store. Animal Control was called to pick him up and they decided to name him Roo after his seeming preference for that particular convenience store and his sweet personality.
This adorable 4-year-old fur-boy is an excellent, experienced car rider – and he does well in planes too! He got to fly high on his rescue flight to Atlanta to become a Squad Dog. Roo’s on the smaller side, less than 60 pounds, and he’s got a great big heart when it comes to others. He’s such a nice boy – well behaved and leash trained. He's a best buddy kind of boy.
Note: ADS would like to thank the volunteer pilots that work with Pilots N Paws for their help transporting rescued animals from some of the more distant shelters in Georgia. Please check them out and support their efforts: http://pilotsnpaws.org
Update from Roo's foster mom:
I often call my dog “Buddy”, even though that’s not his name. And in Roo’s case, the “Buddy” nickname is even more appropriate.
Roo is all about being your companion. He is thrilled to see you when you get home and when you’re with him he just wants to be by your side. While my dog is tearing around the yard in pursuit of the tennis ball or chasing after a squirrel, Roo is happily by my side. This guy just wants to be with me and is happiest if he can actually be sitting ON me!
Sure, he loves to fetch and jump for a bouncing ball and when he’s really excited he does his own version of a kangaroo hop (levitating all four feet off the ground!), but he’s also the sweetest dog who just loves to go for a long walk – always staying right by your side.
Roo’s goal in life seems to be to keep me company. When I get home from work or get up in the morning, this guy greets me with a big smile and a happy wag of his tail. He has the most adorable, expressive face and he lives to be by my side. He's sweet and loves everyone and really aims to please.
Roo is housetrained and crate-trained, rides very nicely in the car, walks well on the leash, knows "sit" and is learning "stay and "down." He's a really smart and obedient fellow who’s looking for a family who will appreciate his love and loyalty and provide him with an abundance of both in return. You have to meet this sweetheart!
