How many times have you heard a dog described as a "good boy?" Well, in the case of our sweet Travis, this is the absolute truth. In fact, when researching to write a story for this 2 year old yellow Lab, we kept hearing the same thing. He's such a good boy. The shelter volunteers, the transporter and the vet staff all said the same thing. He's such a good boy.
Poor Travis found himself in a rural animal control facility where not a lot of dogs get that second chance at a good life. When our volunteers saw this handsome Lab, we couldn't bear the thought of his life ending at the shelter. So, he became a Squad Dog.
Besides having one awesome personality, Travis likes to ride in the car. He's not your overly exuberant young Lab, but still likes to have fun with people. Travis seems to get along with other dogs and would probably do very well in a home with children due to his easy-going temperament.
Travis is looking for a foster home so we can learn even more about how this handsome guy does in a home environment. If you are interested in a good-lookin' yellow Lab in the prime of his life, why not adopt (or consider fostering) our boy Travis. Did we mention he's a good boy?
Update from Travis' foster family:
Travis is what I call a "ready-made dog." From the minute I picked him up, he had all of the ingredients of the "good dog" everyone called him. He happily hopped into my car, at home greeted my 2 dogs with a friendly tail wag, went out to the bathroom in the perfect spot (on the pine straw) and came in and made himself at home as my new boon companion.
He is completely housetrained and a child could walk him. Since he's so gentle, laid-back and sweet, he would be great with kids. Not sure about cats, but I would guess that he'd love them too. Travis's greatest pleasure in life is being with his owner/family. Like people, dogs sometimes miss their true calling and I could definitely see Travis as a handicapped assistance dog. For a treat, Travis will trot into his crate and rest quietly. At night, he has been snoozing by our bed-why does it surprise me that this "good dog" doesn't even snore!!
