Balta owes his life to some shelter volunteers who rallied to make sure he got a chance at a better life. You see, 7-year old black Lab mixes who have been surrendered by their owners have little to no chance at getting out of the shelter alive. Balta beat the odds.
To top it off, due to overcrowding Balta was placed in a very small run where he began biting his feet until they were bloody. The vet said this was probably due to boredom or the stress of being abandoned at the shelter, which is stressful under any circumstances. Even facing all of this misfortune, Balta was able to charm the shelter volunteers, who contacted ADS to rescue this sweet dog.
We're happy to report that Balta's feet have healed nicely and he is continuing to charm everyone he meets. The staff at the vet's office said all he wanted to do was to be with people and they raved about his temperament. Balta gets along with other dogs and kids, and is a rather calm dog. Although he's past the chewing and jumping of a puppy, he still has a lot of spunk and adores being around people. Balta walks nicely on a leash and is housetrained.
Balta is used to being a family dog and would like nothing more than to find someone who would give him a permanent home. Being ripped out of a home is life changing for any dog, but Balta has managed to keep his gentle, easy-going temperament. Please consider adopting Balta and help him beat the odds one more time.
