Thin may be in - but not when it borders on emaciation. Bones was literally skin and bones when he first came into an area shelter. Not only was he obviously malnourished, but he had a chain around both his neck and chest, which had worn into his skin causing some nasty wounds. All in all, he was lucky to find his way to the shelter.
When ADS heard the plight of this young retriever mix, we knew this dog needed immediate help. After some excellent veterinary care, we're happy to report that not only have Bones' wounds healed, but he is a happy dog that is thriving. The vet staff has nothing but good things to say about this 4-yr old boy, and there are little to no physical or emotional signs of his former life.
Bones actually came into the shelter with another dog and he gets along at the shelter, so we believe he would be happy with another canine companion. But, he would be fine as the only dog that likes to hang out and watch television with his family. He loves his belly rubs and will sit with his head in your lap. Bones likes to play, but definitely has that "off" switch that makes him a great companion. He has a very thick coat and will benefit from regular grooming.
This guy has gone through a lot and still has a loving, generous spirit. If you are looking for a companion dog, Bones would be happy and grateful to put his trust in you.
