SquadDog Cabela

Some dogs simply prefer the company of humans to that of other dogs. Cabela is one of those dogs. She is happy as a clam with someone sitting by her side, petting her and showering her with attention. Well, who wouldn't be? And when you are as good looking a Lab as Cabela, it's not too tough to find someone willing to do just that.

Cabela came to us from a Georgia shelter where she ended up as a stray. It's always tough to imagine how these beautiful Labs wind up facing death, with no family coming to find them. Luckily, a local rescuer was notified about Cabela and contacted ADS. We were more than happy to help this girl find a forever home.

Like some beautiful people, Cabela does tend to be a bit of a diva around other dogs. She's not too keen on sharing other people's attention and she can be a bit protective of her food. This is not uncommon for a dog that has had to survive as a stray for any length of time. And, for a dog that craves human interaction and has been starved for attention, she's determined to be #1 with everyone she meets. That's why we believe Cabela will thrive in a home where she is an only dog and doesn't have to share the spotlight.

If you are looking for a loving companion that's always happy to see you and eager to spend time with you, please make sure to meet Cabela. At 4-5 years old, she has a nice energy level -- over the puppy antics but still with pep in her step to keep up with an active person. We know you will fall in love with the raven-haired beauty when you meet her.

Update from Cabela's foster family:

Cabela has only been with us a short time, but we know we are lucky we are to be fostering such a loving, gentle dog. When she first arrived home with us she investigated our house a bit, but she was really more interested in us. She sat at our feet and waited for us to talk to her and scratch her belly. This hasn’t changed a bit. She loves human companionship!

Here are some specific details we have learned about her:
~ She is pretty indifferent to most animals we’ve met
while out walking in the neighborhood. She has only
encountered one dog that made her bark and carry on
     a bit.
~ Cabela goes into her crate without any barking or
     problems.
  ~ She is house trained.
~ When we left her out of the crate and went out for
a few hours, nothing was touched or bothered.
~ She loves to swim in our pool.
~ She was frightened when we had thunder. She barked
and ran around until I got her next to me and
     was able to pet her.

Cabela is really is an easy going dog who is looking for nothing else than somebody to love her.
