SquadDog Bridgette

Bridgette’s story as told by her foster mom:

Bridgette is a sweet and gentle Chocolate Lab whose tail is always wagging. She has the cutest way of lowering her head and looking up at you and if you stop to admire her the tail wags harder and she usually rolls over for a tummy rub. She is completely house-trained, walks great on a leash and gets along fabulously with all other dogs. She is always close by but is not demanding, she’s content to lie near you and follow whenever you decide to move. She LOVES kids and never jumps on anyone so I believe she would be good with toddlers or any age child. Although I don’t have a cat, she has made friends with my neighbor cat and I feel she could share a home with a dog savvy kitty. She also never barks.

At approximately 8 years old, Bridgette does not like to be crated and has free run of the house while I am at work. She has carried a few shoes around but has never destroyed a thing. She seems pretty disinterested in toys, chews and food compared to my own two food obsessed labbies. She is protective of her food when those two come calling (but who wouldn’t be?) and so I feed her separately from them. She has a soft mouth and takes treats very gently, even around the afore-mentioned maniacs.

Ten days after I brought her home I packed her into the car with my two and drove to Wisconsin where 12 people and 6 labs shared a lake house. She was perfect in the car and got along with everyone—human and canine. I did need to watch her closely as she wanted to explore the woods and chase chipmunks, squirrels, etc.

My family is predicting she never leaves since she is so good and I would keep her in a heartbeat if I didn’t have two already. And I think Bridgette deserves her own family and would especially love a home where her humans are around more than a single working person is. She’s a companion dog, not a romping, ball-throwing needs to walk 3 miles a day type of girl. I have walked her with one of my dogs, she’s great on the leash, and she’s happy to go but she’s not the type that is going to demand a walk in pouring down rain. I can’t say enough good things about her, she’s just a sweetie and I’ll miss her when she finds her forever home.
