"A person or thing that shows marked ability or excellence." That's the definition you'll find in Webster's dictionary when you look up the word Crackerjack. And, that's the perfect definition for the 6-month old yellow Lab puppy by the same name that we recently rescued from a local shelter.
This little guy found himself abandoned by his family at the tender age of 5 months old. No explanation -- they just dropped him off at animal control. Perhaps the reality of actually taking care of a Lab puppy was just too much. That's something we wish more people would consider before taking home a cute little bundle of Labby joy. Puppies grow up. And, they can wreak a lot of havoc in the meantime. But, our boy Crackerjack is actually a very good dog, especially for his age. And, he's already crate and housetrained.
He has definitely charmed his foster dad, who has this to say about our boy:
"Cracker Jack (aka CJ or Jack) is flat out gorgeous and at about 6 mos old. He is still very puppyish from both a personality and looks perspective. He definitely is a BIG puppy and he's still got a lot of growing to do. He has the most adorable personality - he's cuddly, still a bit clumsy, silly, animated and a little unsure of himself. He has the makings, markings and characteristics of a true purebred yellow lab."
This puppy is so special that he has his own blog. Well, his foster dad actually writes the blog which details the daily adventures of Crackerjack and includes observations of how he is growing into the definition of his name. You can check out CJ's blog at http://adscrackerjack.blogspot.com. This is a must read for anyone interesting in adopting CJ, or any other Lab puppy for that matter. Even with all of his puppy antics, we think you'll find this Squad Dog simply irresistable.
