SquadDog India

India is a dream dog, and a volunteer favorite at the shelter where she was surrendered. That's why it's so difficult to understand why she would be abandoned by her family. But now that she's a Squad Dog, we are going to work to make sure she finds a home that would never dream of giving her up.

What's not to like about this personable, 5 year old sweetie? She's housetrained, walks well on the leash, sits on command, gets along with other dogs and really loves kids. And to top it off, India rides well in the car, has the lower energy level of an adult dog, and still likes to play ball when she's outside with the family. Did we mention she's a dream dog?

India is gorgeous with a beautiful Labby head and an interesting speckled bib on her chest. We think there might be some pointer in her family history. But, when it comes to temperament, she's all Lab. If you're looking for a faithful, loving companion that still likes to romp and play when it's appropriate, then you need to meet our dreamgirl India.

Update from India's foster family:

India made an easy transition into our home: came in, met our dogs, sniffed around, then found a nearby dog bed and made herself at home. She is quite mellow in the house and at a 4th of July party, impressed everyone by her calm demeanor. She laid down in the middle of a circle of 20 adults/children and raised her head for an occasional pat or rolled over for lots of belly rubs. But India has plenty of energy in reserve if you want to take a ride in the car, a nice long walk, or if you pull out a Frisbee or Tug-Of-War toy. Then, she has the energy of a puppy.

India is completely house-trained and will let you know when she has to go. She walks well on the leash and rides well in the car. She will go into her crate willingly, but does not like to be left in there for long periods of time. At night, she sleeps in our bedroom along with our two dogs. Although she gets along fine with other dogs, she is not interested in interacting with them-her focus is on her people. For this reason, she could be quite happy being an only dog. As long as her "People" are around, she is happy and contented. She has become one of the family in a very short time and is looking for that forever family who will include her in all of their activities.

Another update from India's foster family:

It has been almost 3 weeks since my original evaluation of India and she has really blossomed. We no longer crate her-she has the run of the house - no problems. She has started trying to play with my dogs, although the heat has hindered that somewhat-but she lets them groom her and recently had 4 more canine "Friends" visit for 5 days. Everyone got along perfectly.

She is a love bug and would be in my lap if she could. I can't tell you what an all-round good dog this girl is. It will be hard to let her go!
