We think Kelly must have the luck of the Irish. Now when you read her story, you might wonder how we can say that. You see, Kelly's story begins on a snowy day in the Atlanta area -- an unlikely and eventful occurrence by any account. A good Samaritan noticed this wee yellow Lab wander up into a yard near her home and was concerned when the dog appeared to be lost and have nowhere else to go. The first piece of luck was that the good Samaritan cared enough to feed sweet Kelly, and then contacted ADS for help.
Gosh and be golly -through another stroke of luck, ADS was able to locate Kelly's former owner who asked us to find her a good home. So, we were able to get Kelly out of the cold and into a warm place where people are taking very good care of her. At first, Kelly can be a little shy, but she wags her tail and comes when you call her name.
Kelly is between four and five years old, and on the small side for a female Lab. But what she lacks in stature, she makes up for in good looks and personality. It seems that Kelly spent most of the last several years living on her own in the backyard -- away from the family. It's obvious from how she's blossomed since coming into our program that she craves human attention and will be much happier living inside with a loving family. Kelly and ADS are wishing on a four-leaf clover that her new family will be coming soon.
So things are looking up for Kelly. And the moral of this story? Sometimes when life seems too much to bear and you're out on the street, when you least expect it -- something wonderful will happen. Especially when you have the luck of the Irish.
