SquadDog Rocket

We often describe dogs as happy, but this boy is uber HAPPY. Spending a few months of his year-long life in an animal control shelter hasn't dampened Rocket's enthusiasm one little bit. When our volunteer first met him, he quickly jumped up to provide a very sweet kiss, as if to say " Hi, I'm happy to meet you and ready to go wherever you're taking me." He was not one little bit reticent about jumping into the car to complete the next leg of his journey which is destined to lead to a happy loving home.

Rocket is a black Lab mix, the type of dog that seldom finds a way out of most animal shelters. Due to his outgoing personality, Rocket won over the shelter staff and was able to survive much longer than expected. But it became obvious that his time was running out and because he was in a shelter where few dogs get adopted, ADS stepped in to save this very lovable guy. Luckily for Rocket, he is now living in a foster home where he can get the attention needed to help him find his permanent home. Here's what his foster mom has to say about Rocket:

Rocket is an affectionate one year old black Lab with an amazing zest for life. Rock is a very happy, confident, and goofy boy that will always make you laugh. He is extremely loving and wants to be right by your side. As I type this, he is on the floor under my desk with his head on my foot!

I believe he would do well in a home with or without a canine companion. Just like any typical Lab, he loves all dogs and humans alike. He is looking for an active forever home where he can get plenty of exercise and a lot of love.

During his short life, someone has loved him enough to teach him the basic rules of living in a home. He knows to do his business outside and can be trusted to sleep on his own bed at night. He is probably best in a crate when left unattended during the day as he can still be a mischievous puppy at times. He has quickly learned to sit when he wants something, “wait” and “down." We are working on other basic commands and he seems eager to please.
