SquadDog Bobby

We can honestly say we don't believe you could ever meet a sweeter boy than our Squad Dog Bobby. He melts your heart the minute he looks up at you with his smiling eyes. Sometimes, we just wish that Bobby could tell us more about his life before coming ADS.

This handsome 5 yr old black Lab mix came to us from a rural shelter where he came in as a stray. We say Lab mix simply due to those slightly longer ears that provide a hint of hound in his bloodlines. It was apparent that Bobby was a "people" dog from the minute he stepped foot into our volunteer transporter's car. He has the most agreeable personality and can't get enough attention. In fact, if you start petting him, you had better be prepared to sit awhile, as he will use his paw to "encourage" you not to stop.

A couple of days after coming to ADS, our vet called to say that Bobby had experienced a seizure in his kennel. It was mild, and the vets quickly calmed him, but we knew that we must be vigilant to see if Bobby had a pattern of seizures. Unfortunately, Bobby had other episodes that led our vets to recommend putting him on anti-seizure medication. We are happy to report that the medication is working and Bobby has had no more seizures. As any family that has had a dog with seizures will tell you, they can be controlled, but you must be diligent about giving the medication at required times.

Because Bobby craves human attention, we are hoping to find a family with someone who either works from home or stays at home to adopt this angel. Having another playful dog would also be a plus, as Bobby likes other dogs and has a playful nature. Bobby is house trained and wants to be wherever his "people" are. He would be a fantastic companion for someone who works out of the home, as Bobby would be happy lying at your feet while you work on the computer. Of course, he might encourage you to pet him with your foot. But that's a pretty simple trade off for having such a wonderful dog as your family member.

If you are interested in potentially adopting Bobby, we encourage you to contact your vet to learn more dogs with a history of seizures. Many dogs who have experienced seizures live perfectly normal lives on medication. We know that the perfect family is out there for Bobby, and hope that you will come to meet him if you think he might be the dog for your family.
