Hershey is such a big lovable Lab that when you see him to just want to give him a big bear hug. This 7 yr old chocolate boy loves hugs, but there's one thing he loves even more and that's belly rubs.
Hershey was a huge hit at his first adoption event with all the volunteers and families. He can sit on command -- but that "sit" is a fluid motion that gradually melts into a "down" and a "roll over" so that Hershey can get his tummy rubbed. He loves people and getting attention from them. From the looks of his chocolate coat, he may have spent some time outdoors before coming to ADS. But, you can see from his face and paws that he is going to be a gorgeous color of chocolate now that he is living inside.
This huggable boy was surrendered to a local shelter by his owner who had raised Hershey from a pup. He took good care of Hershey and kept his vetting up to date. But it seems the owner's new wife demanded that he get rid of Hershey, for no apparent reason. A volunteer met Hershey, fell in love and contacted ADS to save him. It's unbelievable that anyone could turn out this dog. Our volunteer who transported Hershey back to Atlanta fell in love with him instantly as he jumped right into her car and laid down to take a nap on the ride.
Hershey is a large Lab who could stand to lose a few pounds, although he has a big frame. He likes to take walks and needs to have some regular exercise, although he's not ready to run several miles a day. Hershey gets along with other dogs, but adores attention from people. This boy would love to have a family who would dote on him and spend time with him. Of course, there is one requirement for anyone who wants to adopt Hershey -- you must be willing to give him loads of love and lots and lots of belly rubs.
