SquadDog Lola

Lovely Lola is longing for a loving home.

OK. Alliteration aside -- this gentle 8 year-old Lab/cattle dog mix is simply huggable. And when she looks at you with her doe eyes, you will surely melt.

Lola originally became a squad dog in late 2009, after fate dealt her a blow. Her beloved owner died of terminal cancer, leaving behind Lola and two doggie pals. The owner's sister had agreed to take care of the dogs, but chose to abandon them instead. Lola was left behind, alone, as the two other dogs in her home found new families. We're sure she was confused, and longed for the days when her owner took such good care of her. To top it off, Lola had lousy timing. She landed in a shelter just before a natural disaster resulted in a huge influx of homeless animals. Things weren't looking good for Lola. She was a dog with three strikes against her -- an older, black dog surrendered to the shelter. But, ADS heard her story and couldn't leave her at the shelter to die.

Our sweet Lola was adopted by a wonderful family in early 2010, but fate dealt Lola yet another blow. Her adoptive family lost their home to a fire, and Lola found herself back with the squad, looking for a new forever family. Lucky for her, she is living the good life with a foster family while she waits. She was a bit shy at first, but she has totally adapted to her foster's schedule and household (2 teenagers, 2 other dogs, and 2 cats with a very busy schedule!). Once settled, Lola makes herself at home -- completely... beating out the other dogs to a pet bed, sitting on the sofa next to you, or jumping up on the bed with you (if you let her!). Lola loves and will seek attention. She likes the car; she loves to be with people; she will frolic in the back yard. She will chase a ball and play with toys .. especially if she thinks she has competition! Lola might be a senior in age, but she is young in spirit. Might you be the one for her?
