SquadDog Peanut

Peanut (aka Tokota) is a 2.5-year old Labrador with a twinkle in his eye that makes you wonder what mischief he's gotten into lately.

Peanut was surrendered along with his sister, pal Marley O and Marley's puppy when their original owner could no longer take care of them. But that hasn't seemed to affect Peanut's jovial approach to life. In fact, this young prankster even found a way to enjoy his stay at our vet's office. It seems he and his pal Marley O found a way to escape their kennels and had a big time in the grooming area. Both of these boys have been known to have escape artist tendencies. Therefore, we are recommending that Peanut be adopted to a family with a tall fence so that he can get the exercise he needs in a safe space.

Mischief aside -- Peanut is one good-looking fellow with a beautiful reddish golden coat and a liver-colored nose. He loves to play with canine pals and people, too. However, Peanut has been picking up some bad traits from his roommate Marley O and now he can be pretty vociferous when he meets another dog walking on the leash. But, with training, we believe he can overcome this bad habit once he is separated from Marley. Peanut is a strong Lab and needs an equally strong handler to guide him appropriately. Like any young retriever, Peanut will benefit greatly from consistent training so that he can better channel his youthful exuberance.

Peanut's former owners report that he is house trained, crate trained and likes children. Also, they describe him as a good boy with a medium activity level. He knows several commands and loves to run, fetch, swim and ride in the car. All in all, he is very good except when following his pal's lead around other dogs. Prior to living with Marley O, Peanut had no problems interacting with other dogs. Therefore, we believe it would be best for him to live in a different home, perhaps even with another confident, well-mannered dog that he can emulate.

So, if you're someone who can't help smiling at the antics of the class clown, yet cares enough to provide the kind of consistent training a young Lab requires, then we encourage you to get to know Peanut. He will benefit from the love and guidance, while keeping you entertained in the meantime.
