The first few months of Tucker's life were tough. As a very young puppy, starving and in poor health, this Lab mix wandered up to a cabin in the mountains that belonged to some ADS volunteers. That's when his luck changed for the better.
Our ADS volunteers nursed Tucker (formerly known as Squad Dog Marlboro) back to health and fostered him, teaching him how puppies behave and how it felt to be loved. A young man fell in love with the puppy and adopted him, giving him the happily-ever-after opportunity we had dreamed about for this boy.
Unfortunately, the young man's living circumstances changed and so did Tucker's. He went from originally living with one other dog, to being in a house with four other dogs. All of this change created a great deal of stress for all of the dogs and the people. To fast forward and make a long story short -- Tucker is once again a Squad Dog looking for his perfect home.
Tucker is a strong boy who is fiercely loyal to his person and his canine pack. In fact, it is obvious that he is still looking for his young man because at every adoption event his tail starts wagging when he sees a male approaching. We think he truly relates to males. Tucker is definitely a dominant personality, and it's obvious that he wants to play and rough house with many of the dogs he meets. But his style can be overwhelming for some dogs, which means we think he may be best living as an only dog or with a more submissive one.
Our hope is that some strong, dog-savvy person looking for a loyal companion will come out to meet our boy Tucker and learn more about his personality. He needs an owner who will dedicate the time necessary to train a young dog, so that Tucker can mature into the best dog possible. We believe that this once malnourished puppy can still get the fairy-tale ending he deserves, and we are willing to do everything in our power to make that happen. We hope you'll contact us for more information on Tucker if you think you can give him a second chance at a loving home.
